What we do
From a question to a national programme.
The same team designs the study, collects the data in the field, publishes the results and works with government to act on them.
National and district surveys
Household, facility and market surveys across Bangladesh, from salt intake and packaged-food labels to NCD services in 792 community clinics.
Population cohorts
The BELIEVE-Urban Study follows 59,844 residents of Mirpur, Dhaka, with the University of Cambridge.
Trials and implementation research
Randomised trials of front-of-pack food labels, a study of low-sodium salt in people with hypertension, and evaluations of services inside the public health system.
Programmes at national scale
The Bangladesh Hypertension Control Initiative runs in 328 public health facilities across 47 districts with NCDC, DGHS and Resolve to Save Lives.
Policy and advocacy
Evidence and campaigns for a stronger tobacco control law and higher tobacco taxes, a road safety law based on the Safe System Approach, and fortified edible oil.
Digital health and data
Simple app data linked to DHIS2 for the NCD Bangladesh Dashboard, Bangladesh's first tobacco quitline pilot, and a Bangla tobacco cessation app with an AI counsellor.
Training
Tobacco cessation training for physicians and nurses, and research methods support for postgraduate doctors.
